Help Save NEBRASKAland!

The Nebraska Game & Parks Commission is planning to pull the plug on NEBRASKAland, since it is operating at a deficit. This is a case where the financial bottom line only tells part of the story. NEBRASKAland is no longer just a hunting and fishing magazine. Now, it is a good source -- sometimes, the best or only source -- of information about Nebraska history, flora and fauna, and state parks and historical sites. Readers go there for the fine writing (the magazine has published essays and articles by at least a half dozen of my current and former students) and the luscious photographs. Please send a message to the following commissioners and ask them to continue publication of NEBRASKAland. Better yet, subscribe!

Here's the article about the decision in the Lincoln Journal Star.
