"Writing from and about the Center"
I'm honored to be speaking at the Annual Friends of the Library dinner in my hometown, Burlington, Iowa, on Friday, April 28th. I'll share my thoughts about the challenges and delights of writing about the Midwest and read a bit from Aldo Leopold's Sand County Almanac, William Least Heat-Moon's PrairyErth: A Deep Map, and my own essays about Burlington and the Mississippi.
Doors open at 5:30 and dinner will be served at 6:00, followed by a brief meeting and then my talk. Afterward, my books will be available for purchase. Please call the Burlington Public Library at 319.753.1647 for more information.
